Anyone who enjoys winter holidays in Lech knows the feeling. The relaxing crunch of snow as you walk. The freedom that’s revealed when the fascinating whiteness stretches endlessly into the mountains. And the clean air clears your head.

A horse-drawn carriage ride at the end of the day? Glide romantically through the Arlberg winter world with the power of two horses. Fantastic.

Exuberant in the snow

Ice cold? The thermometer may say that. But if you’re wrapped up snug and warm, every winter’s day in Oberlech is a fulfilling adventure. What’s more, we have the most hours of sunshine here on the mountain. And when the snowflakes dance, we move with them in one of life’s greatest joys.

Winter hiking adventure

Yes, we can recommend many routes for winter hiking. What would you like? Would you prefer a leisurely walk or an extended hike through the glistening snow via Tannegg up to the Kriegeralpe? More than 40 kilometres of winter hiking trails with intoxicatingly beautiful nature await you in Lech am Arlberg. The adjacent chairlift transports you comfortably to the high-altitude hiking trails. Practical for winter hikers: the Sonnenabo ticket for uphill and downhill rides on the lifts.

Away in your snowshoes

The Rüfikopf Snowflake Panorama Trail is recommended for a first trip with snowshoes and can be easily mastered in just under 1.5 hours while offering great views.

With a bit of luck, you will also see one or another forest dweller while snowshoeing during your winter holiday in the Burg Hotel Lech.

How about a hot chocolate and some delicious refreshment part way round? Numerous sun terraces, huts and rustic lodges on the Arlberg invite you to stop off during the tour.

Tobogganing to Lech

Ready for the off? Luge and bobsleigh riders couldn’t have it better. The toboggan run in Oberlech starts directly below the hotel and we offer toboggan rental directly in the hotel. The best way to master the 1.2 km long course is on agile Lenk bobs or iconic “Zipfelbobs”.

The toboggan run from Oberlech to Lech is not only open during the day, but also illuminated until 9:00 p.m. for tobogganing by night. You can easily get back up with the Oberlech cable car.

Toboggans and bobsleds are available for hire at the hotel.

Cross-country skiing in the valley

First to the mountain railway, then to the snow track. The starting point of the cross-country trails is in the valley and not directly at the Burg Hotel in Oberlech. In addition to 17 km of skating trails, you can look forward to ten kilometres of cross-country trails for the classic cross-country technique. Is there something for everyone? Of course! The varied network of cross-country ski trails offers routes for beginners, returnees and professionals. And of course whenever you’re cross-country skiing: the extraordinary natural landscape on the Arlberg.

Ski tours in the heart of nature

The snow makes itself at home in Oberlech from November until May. The perfect time for ski touring. You’ve doubtless heard about it. The Arlberg region in Austria is one of the most famous ski touring areas in the Alps. Be inspired by the tranquility and scenic beauty on the ascent. Then embark on the descent in untouched deep snow and you know these moments are unique.

A highlight on the Arlberg: ski tours under the full moon.

Important: Keep an eye on the weather, snow conditions and avalanche warning level. Inexperienced ski tourers should be accompanied by mountain guides or ski instructors on the ski tour.

Winter via ferrata

Ever climbed in winter? A mixture of ski touring and via ferrata – that's what Tyrol’s first winter via ferrata in St. Anton am Arlberg offers. It’s located in the Rendl resort and is about 850 m long. First you take the Riffelbahn II up to an altitude of 2,650 m and then over the Riffelgrat to the impressive Rendlspitze at a height of 2,816 m. From there, continue to the 2,732 m-high Rossfallscharte. The fantastic descent is off the groomed slopes. Guided tours are also available here.

Where’s the best place? Lech-Zürs am Arlberg was voted number 1 in the category “Best Freeride Opportunities” in a round-up of ski resorts. No wonder: off the groomed piste, dreams in powder snow come true.

Take-off for heliskiing

First take off by helicopter from the Kriegerhorn or Flexenpass. Fly over the mountain scenery of the Alps. Then – on being set down – the feelings of happiness keep coming as you make your first turns in the fresh, untracked powder snow.

By the way: pure helicopter sightseeing flights are also offered on the Arlberg.
