A PLACE WHERE LEGENDS ARE CREATED

Pre Burg era
Secrets by nightAs the end of the 19th century, a pastor from Warth brought skiing from Norway to the Arlberg. Back then, skiing was viewed with such suspicion that he ventured out secretly onto to slopes at night.
1961
Once upon a milk bar ... At the beginning of the 1960s, Helga and Fridolin Lucian openend a small milk parlor in the middle of the piste. When the first (beer) serving license became available, the ''Gasthaus Burg'' was officially born. With a pioneering spirit and and an iron will, the house was expanded each year until it became the premiere hotel in town and today's most desirable address.
1997
One man's burning desireFridolin Lucian was always a bit ahead of his time. Even as oil prices were rising, the neighbors showed no interest in alternative energy. Regardless, Fridolin decided to build an entire biomass plant on his own to supply the family businesses. Fun fact: within a short time, Fridolin's idea was finally accepted, and so successful that another biomass heating plant was built in 2009 to supply many houses in Oberlech.
1998
A one-of-a-kind tunnelFridolin's vision also included making Oberlech completely car-free in winter. What was considered crazy and unfeasible at the time, eventually became reality with a unique tunnel system connecting all hotels and private homes. Today, one barely notices how goods or luggage are transported within the village.

Culinary artsFrom roof tiles to Duroc pigs: while the first generation focused on building, the second concentrated on culinary arts. Thanks to Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian, we still make many of our own products today.
Handpicked and loyal
The people in our team have always been the heart and soul of the Burg. A few of the employees who helped Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian make the Burg Hotel the ''place to be'' on the Arlberg are still with us today, sharing their art of hospitality.

Legacy and lineageThe Burg is and will remain a family business. All family members are still actively involved in the house. Since 2021, the future is officially in the hands of Christian Lucian and Patricia Lorenz. The love of design also runs in the blood of the third generation. Their minds are flowing with ideas about what the future of the Burg might look like. Tradition is included in this vision, of course.
