We’ve been a host family for three generations. People who shape the hotel with our personality and surprising attentiveness. Those who get to know us feel real passion.
From the 1960s to the 2020s, our family business has immortalised itself in the hearts of our guests thanks to its innovations. We have grown, but remained true to ourselves. As an exclusive traditional Alpine house, we practice “tradition en vogue” in everything we do.
The Burg is and remains a family business. All family members are still involved and committed to the Burg today: Helga and Fridolin Lucian, Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian and the third generation: Patricia and Christian Lucian.
At the beginning of the 1960s, Helga and Fridolin Lucian opened a small milk bar in the middle of the piste. When the first (beer) licence was granted, it marked the birth of the “Gasthaus Burg”. With a pioneering spirit and an iron will, the inn was expanded year after year. Today it’s the first building on the square and a place of longing for our guests.
The idea of progress is in our blood. Not only did grandfather Fridolin Lucian realise the brilliant idea of generating energy through biomass in Oberlech in the 1990s, he had tunnels built under the village in 1998 – since then Oberlech has been car-free in winter. This is family-friendly, safe and sustainable. We see it as our mission to continue this pioneering spirit.
Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian took over the family business in 2000. They perfected the idea of service, and developed the culinary offerings of the Burg further. Regional products, if possible from our own production – this is what they set in motion: so that our guests enjoy the very best at the Burg.
The third generation also has the courage to act. Patricia and Christian Lucian are full of ideas for the future of the Burg. Tradition included, of course. “Like our parents and grandparents, we don’t shy away from setting ourselves high goals,” they say. A little modern, a little over the top, but everything à la Burg. Or in the words of a German song: “Everything stays different”.
The people in our team have always been the heart and soul of the Burg. Some of the employees who helped Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian to make the Burg the “place to be” on the Arlberg using all the rules of the art of hospitality still work with us today. Many thanks to our outstanding team!
